Silverado High School students take part in Every 15 Minutes program
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas police are teaming up with other agencies around the Valley to save lives. They staged a two-car crash Thursday morning at Silverado High School to show students how drunk driving can be deadly.
As part of the Every 15 Minutes program, students play the roles of victims and the driver and follow the process through the hospital, jail and the courtroom.
"I think this program is definitely something that needs to be brought to all the schools in the Valley. I mean even if you save one of two lives. You know, people say is it really worth it? Well, if it's your kid, you tell me," explained Detective Patrick David Rooney from Metro's Fatal Detail Unit.
Detective Rooney says the program also tells teenagers the importance of paying attention while they're behind the wheel.
