Applicants sought to replace rural Nevada judge
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- Applicants are being sought to replace 7th Judicial District Judge Dan Papez, who is retiring after 20 years on the Nevada bench.
The 7th Judicial District encompasses White Pine, Lincoln and Eureka counties in eastern Nevada.
Papez is retiring on Jan. 5.
The appointment process is open to all Nevada attorneys with 10 years of legal experience, at least two years in Nevada.
Applications are being accepted until 5 p.m. Dec. 14.
The Judicial Selection Commission will conduct background investigations on the applicants and interview candidates before nominating three finalists for Gov. Brian Sandoval to consider.
Interviews will be conducted in public and are tentatively set for Jan. 22-23 in Ely.
