Three Square fights hunger in Southern Nevada

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- About half of the kids in Clark County schools are hungry.  Some of their meals will come from Three Square.  And it's making Las Vegas a better place to live.

Every day, community groups and church groups head to Three Square's giant food warehouse to stock up on groceries to feed their hungry clients.

Robert Carter's church makes meals for hundreds of people every month.  And most of the food they serve comes from Three Square.  It's the same story for more than 650 different organizations. They all come to this centralized warehouse to get food.
 
Robert Carter says, "Right now the community is devastated because of the economy and they come to us. And of course that's one of our missions. Take care of the homeless.  The poor.  About 90% of the food we use comes from Three Square."
 
With just one dollar, Three Square can provide three meals. President and CEO Brian Burton says, " We distribute about 2-million pounds of food every month. A lot of that is donated food from food drives that people, churches do for us. So we really depend on those food drives to help supplement what we distribute to our agency partners."
 
Three Square is one of five non-profits teaming up this Saturday for the Community Day of Sharing.  If you'd like to help, just drop by any Albertsons/Save-on store and donate non-perishable food items or gently used clothes.
