NYE COUNTY (KTNV) -- Nye County authorities have a break in a cold case involving a Pahrump woman who disappeared more than six years ago.

Maureen Fields has been missing since Feb. 15, 2006.

Now, authorities have linked DNA evidence found in her car to 81-year-old Keith Holmes. They say the registered sex offender began traveling to Pahrump from California at about the time Fields disappeared.

Fields' husband Paul was considered a "person of interest" in the case. He told police he argued with his wife the day she disappeared and refused to cooperate with their investigation.

A neighbor, who does not want to be identified, says many in Pahrump treated Paul Fields as if he were guilty.

She told Action News, "A lot of people I'm sure are rude to him. I've seen that. A lot of people, you know, they hear the stories so they automatically judge him by that."

Holmes has not been charged in connection with Maureen Fields' disappearance. Authorities have interviewed him. Now, they want to interview people who know him.
