Holiday hiring up at many stores
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The National Retail Federation predicts that seasonal hiring will reach its highest level in five years this year.
This is good news for many people who are looking for extra work.
A survey released by Snag-A-Job said that 63 percent of those surveyed said that will make holiday hires this year.
That is up from 51 percent last year at this time and happens to the highest since the survey started five years ago.
And according to the NRF, retailers will add up to 625,000 this season.
Here is a list of which retailers are hiring the most seasonal workers:
Target -- 90,000 people
Macy's -- 80,000
Wal-Mart and Kohl's -- 50,000
Toys 'R' Us -- 45,000 (up by 5,000 this year)
Although these numbers are good news, they still remain below pre-recession levels.
Economists say these retailers may proceed with caution at the beginning of the season and if holiday sales are up, you may see more people hired midway through.
