Flash flood warning issued for Southern Nevada
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Southern Nevada.
The warning has been issued for south central Clark County in Southern Nevada; west central Mohave County in Northwest Arizona; and east central San Bernardino County in Southern Nevada.
The warning is in effect until 10:30 a.m. PDT.
At 8:35 a.m., the National Weather Service Doppler Radar indicated very heavy rain from a band of heavy rain-producing thunderstorms 11 miles southeast of Cottonwood Cove or 13 miles north of Laughlin.
Thunderstorms within this band were moving north at 20 to 25 mph.
Flash flooding is expected in washes, low water crossings and on area roadways.
A flash flood advisory through 4:15 p.m. was also issued for Southern Nevada.
At 9:48 PDT, the National Weather Service radar indicated another round of showers and thunderstorms moving across the Las Vegas Valley at 15 to 25 mph.
The heaviest rain was generally along and east of Interstate 15.
Showers and thunderstorms today may produce another quarter of an inch of rain in the valley with higher amounts possible in some areas.
Many areas along the far west side of the valley have already received an inch of rain since midnight.
Motorists and pedestrians are advised not to attempt to cross a flooded roadway or other area.
