Heavy rain overnight in Las Vegas Valley, more rain expected
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- It rained again last night in the Las Vegas valley and it may not be completely over.
Heavy rain moved into the Las Vegas Valley shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday night.
By 3 a.m., several areas of the valley were reporting significant rainfall totals, particularly on the western side of the valley.
According to the Clark County Regional Flood Control District, rainfall totals included 0.12 inches in the Blue Diamond area; .39 inches at the Red Rock Detention Basin; .59 inches near Smoke Ranch Road and Buffalo Drive; and .63 inches near Floyd Lamb State Park in the Centennial Hills area.
On the eastern side of Las Vegas, 0.12 inches was reported at the Pittman East Detention Basin; .04 at Duck Creek and Tomiyasu Lane; and .08 near the Sloan Channel in northeast Las Vegas.
As of 4:30 a.m. this morning, most of the rain had stopped in the Las Vegas Valley although significant rainfall was still being reported in the Pahrump area and Indian Springs to the north.
The temperature at 4:30 a.m. was 62 degrees in central Las Vegas and 35 degrees in the Lee Canyon area.
According to the National Weather Service, showers are likely to continue today with an occasional thunderstorm. The high temperature is expected to be near 73 with light and variable winds. The chance of precipitation is 70%.
The rain is expected to continue Thursday night with a thunderstorm likely before 11 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11. The low will be around 60 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
There is a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms on Friday. It will be mostly cloudy with a high temp of 71 degrees.
The weather should start clearing up by Friday evening with mostly cloudy skies and a low around 58.
High temps of around 75 are expected for Saturday and 83 degrees on Sunday.
