Lake Mead, NV (KTNV) -- It was a gorgeous day out on Lake Mead -- lovely blue water, gorgeous views and one more thing most weren't expecting: parasites.
Rangers at Lake Mead say say that ver the weekend, nine people got a skin rash known as Swimmer's Ttch. The rash comes from parasites that mostly live on birds. The parasites burrow under your skin causing a rash.
The recent outbreaks happened at Boulder Beach. But just because you swim in the lake doesn't mean you'll necessarily get the rash.
According to the Center for Disease Control, most cases of Swimmers Itch do not require medical attention.
