Road closures planned for Sunday in downtown Las Vegas for run
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- There will be significant road closures beginning at 4 p.m. Oct. 7 in downtown Las Vegas to accommodate the first GlowRun.
The expected closures include:
-- Las Vegas Blvd. between Carson Avenue and Hoover Avenue
-- 6th Street between Carson Avenue and Hoover Avenue
-- 7th Street between Carson Avenue and Gas Avenue
-- 8th Street between Charleston Blvd. and Clark Avenue
-- 9th Street between Charleston Blvd. and Fremont Street
-- 10th Street between Charleston Blvd. and Fremont Street
The race begins promptly at 7 pm at Las Vegas Blvd. and Carson; ending at Fremont Street & 8th Avenue.
Following the race, there will be a multi-block street party called AfterGlow, featuring performances by Girl Talk, Capital Cities and more. These areas will remain blocked until midnight:
-- Carson between 6th to 7th
-- Fremont to 6th by El Cortez
All other roads, including Las Vegas Blvd., are anticipated to re-open by 9 p.m.
The GlowRun is presented by Wendoh Media Companies and Insomniac, the team behind Electric Daisy Carnival.
Thousands of participants will make their way through the Fremont East Entertainment District energized by bursts of live music.
After the run, there will be a block party in downtown Las Vegas.
A portion of registration will benefit Aids for AIDS of Nevada.
