Elementary students plant fruit & vegetable garden
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Students had a chance to plant their very own fruit and vegetable garden at Ruby Thomas Elementary School Tuesday. A total of about 60 students were able to get their hands dirty. The school's principal says it's a great lesson.
"I think it's a wonderful opportunity for kids to understand sometimes the life sciences can be brought into real life by bringing a real garden here we're helping to advance that part of the curriculum," said Dennis Kubala.
The planting was made possible thanks to volunteers from Whole Foods Market and Create a Change Now, a local non-profit organization that fights childhood obesity.
