Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Police have confirmed the woman found dead in her Summerlin apartment over the weekend was the victim of a homicide.

She's been identified as 46-year-old Shauna Tiaffay.

Police have not released many details, and neighbors are shocked to learn their area isn't as safe as they'd like to think.

"We felt it was one of the safest complexs in the Summerlin area until Saturday, unfortunately," neighbor Johnny Lanoue said.

Residents at Willowbrook say they're scared and a little confused after they saw crime scene tape and patrol cars line their Summerlin apartment complex.

"As far we know it was a random burglary and someone was killed," Lanoue said.

Lanoue said management at his apartment complex promised to provide his family with more information about what happened inside the unit, but they've been kept in the dark.

"The complex stated that they would put out a letter pretty quickly, and let us know what was going on and we have yet to hear any more details," Lanaoue said.

Neighbor Callie Johnson has decided to keep a more watchful eye on her four daughters after the murder.

"It's pretty frustrating because we live here," Johnson said. "I thought it was safe, we researched this area, we just moved in in January, picked it because it was suppsosed to be safe, now that happened and nobody is telling us anything."

Unfortunately for residents, Metro says they have no new information, no suspects and no person of interest. Their investigation remains ongoing.

Management at Willowbrook Apartments say because police haven't told them anything, they have nothing to pass on to their residents.
