Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Local voters have money on their minds. They want the two presidential candidates to talk about the economy in Wednesday's televised national debate.

There's no doubt Southern Nevada was hit hard during the 2008 Wall Street crash when Americans saw their disposable incomes dwindle and the tourism industry drop.

Numbers in August showed unemployment in Las Vegas at 12.3 percent.

"It affects my day-in and day-out living," said Nancy Marcellus. "My daily life is affected by the economy... so yes, absolutely, it is the main point."

But, while Nevada has been slow to move out of the recession, financial issues aren't the only topics on the mind of local voters. Women's rights, the military, and immigration also came up when Action News talked to registered voters.

Nevada is a key swing state and could be crucial in determining the outcome of the 2012 election.

Action News will air the debate live from Denver, Colorado at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. It's the first of three presidential debates in October. There will also be a vice presidential debate in two weeks.
