Summerlin, NV (KTNV) --  Crime tape blocks the apartment where Metro police said a woman was found dead. Resident just woke up Saturday morning when they heard the news.

"It was still early in the morning getting up and reading your paper and having breakfast, but never heard a word about it," resident Ramona Ramirez said. "I'm saddened for the family."

Police said the woman is about 45-years old and lives in a unit at the back of the complex.

Police said she's a mother with a young daughter, but nobody was home when police arrived.

"The preliminary investigation determined that it was not a natural death," Lt. Nichole Splinter, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, said. "Homicide investigators were called and have responded to the scene."

Residents at the WillowBrook apartment complex in Summerlin are upset that this could happen so close to home.

The complex sits off the 215 freeway on Sahara and South Pavilion Center Drive. Residents said there is rarely any crime.

"It's very frightening," resident Cynthia Nowicki said. "I love it here I walk to the park everyday, I take my dog and I come and go as I please. I'm very sorry to hear about this."

"Really nice people here, never had any problems at all," resident Robert Ramirez said. "I'm sure it can happen anywhere, but we haven't seen any bad things happen here."

Police said they don't have any possible suspects and the woman's identity hasn't been released.
