DUI checkpoint works to clean up streets
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Several people spent the weekend behind bars. That's after the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department worked throughout the night at a DUI checkpoint.
It took place just east of Maryland Parkway on Sahara Saturday night. It was planned several months ago, and they worked until 3 a.m. Sunday looking for impaired drivers. The whole set up even included a van ready to take away DUI drivers.
This all happened one day after two officers and a citizen were taken to the hospital when a driver slammed into two police cars on a traffic stop. The driver was charged with DUI.
Because of that crash and other recent accidents, officers showed no mercy to those who chose to drive while impaired.
