Search dogs put in the spotlight in Henderson
Henderson, NV (KTNV) -- Highly trained search dogs were put in the spotlight Saturday in the Valley.
The National Search Dog Foundation was at Petco in Henderson showing off how its dogs help firefighters and emergency service agencies save lives during major disasters.
They're specifically trained to help in disasters such as 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina.
"Not only do the dogs have to be able to search and bark and do their job, they also have to have a lot of agility, which means they have to be able to go over things that are moving, they have to go up high and make sure they can do things that normal dogs just can't do," said Denise Sanders, Search Dog Foundation.
The foundation said most of their search dogs are from shelters and rescue centers.
