Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- This is National Alzheimer's Awareness Day and one of the most prestigious clinics in the world is right here in Las Vegas.
The Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health is making Las Vegas a better place to live.
Dr. Jeffrey Cummings is the Medical Director. He says, "We are doing more clinical trials on Alzheimer's disease than any other clinic in the United States."
They are also doing groundbreaking studies on the effects of brain injuries. Dr. Charles Bernick is working with local boxers and UFC athletes to help protect their brains from the constant blows.
Dr. Bernick says, "The idea of the study is to try to learn when damage occurs in the brain and try to detect it early and determine who may go on to have long term brain diseases."
The studies are prestigious, but the staff here never loses site, it's all about Las Vegas patients.
