New court program aims to keep kids in school
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Truancy is a growing problem throughout the Clark County School District but some volunteer judges are working to help tardy teens.
The Truancy Diversion Project hopes to improve student attendance.
The program kicked off Monday in family court.
The men and women involved in the program are real district court judges with a desire to see kids in Las Vegas succeed.
They say the real way to make it happens is to hold student accountable.
Judges in the program say success is based on the individual student. By encouraging kids to do well and join programs and clubs, it creates a sense of pride that will keep them coming back to school.
