Henderson man among those killed in Libya
Henderson, NV (KTNV) -- A Henderson man was one of those killed in Libya during the Benghazi attack on Tuesday.
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Tyrone S. Woods was one of the security personnel who died helping to protect their colleagues.
Woods was a Henderson resident and former Navy SEAL, according to a statement released by U.S. Congresswoman Shelley Berkley.
"Tyrone died defending the country he bravely served for over two decades in uniform after completing multiple tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan," Berkley said. "It is the selfless service of patriots like Tyrone that safeguards the freedoms we enjoy as Americans."
Woods recently lived in Southern California before moving to Nevada with his wife and children.
Clinton also released a statement on Woods on Thursday.
"Tyrone's friends and colleagues called him "Rone," and they relied on his courage and skill, honed over two decades as a Navy SEAL," Clinton said. "In uniform, he served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Since 2010, he protected American diplomatic personnel in dangerous posts from Central America to the Middle East."
Woods is survived by his wife, Dorothy and three sons.
