Scabies outbreak reported at local elementary school
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- There is a scabies outbreak at a local elementary school.
Scabies is a microscopic human itch mite.
A letter was sent out Wednesday to parent at Lomie Heard Elementary School on Nellis Air Force Base.
In part, the letter reads: "The student who had scabies are under a doctor's care. They're not expected to return to school until a medical release is granted."
The letter goes on to say that officials are looking to spray the school.
If your child has sensitivity or an allergy to pesticides, contact the school at 799-4920.
