Volunteers spent day looking for missing man; search resumes tomorrow
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The search for a man washed away in flood waters during Tuesday's storm has turned to a recovery effort.
Authorities say 38-year-old Calletano Lopez was washed away while working near Sahara and Hollywood on Tuesday.
Police and rescue crews launched a search for the man, wading through muddy water and debris for any clues that would lead them to Lopez.
The sludge made it difficult for searchers and dangers arose over the toxicity of the flood waters they dug through.
Lopez was using a bulldozer near Desert Rose Golf Course at the time of his disappearance.
A police spokesperson said the official search was halted Wednesday afternoon, and would begin again Thursday morning.
Volunteers plan to look for Lopez early tomorrow morning.
