Metro arrests third suspect in cell phone theft rings
North Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Metro police have arrested a third individual linked to two cell phone theft rings.
Police say Heather Serenbetz, 20, of Las Vegas drove the getaway vehicles involved in the crimes.
This adds to two separate arrests including Joseph Neal Cardenas, 24, and Justin Profit, 18, both of Las Vegas, in connection with the theft rings.
Police say the investigation began in response to a report of a stolen phone which led to the discovery of tow separate theft rings in the southwest part of the valley.
Police say the victims were targeted and some thefts occurred as the phone owners were talking on the device. The theft rings phone of choice was newer generation Apple iPhones.
Serenbetz has been charged with attempted grand larceny, three counts of conspiracy to commit grand larceny, nine counts of larceny from a person, ten counts of burglary, nine counts of grand larceny, three counts of conspiracy to commit burglary and six counts of conspiracy to commit larceny from a person.
