Reno first in NV to publish city salaries online
RENO, Nev. (AP) -- The city of Reno has become the first government in Nevada to publish information online about its employees' salaries.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the city quietly launched the payroll database last week. It includes data back to 2009 and details base pay and benefits for every city employee by name.
City Manager Andrew Clinger says the information is up-to-date, organized and easy to understand. He says the information is important to taxpayers because 80 percent of all city expenditures go to employee wages and benefits.
The information can be accessed through the city's Web site at http://dashboard.reno.gov/
