Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- After 10 years of continuous bad news, it seems Tanya Angus has finally experienced a reversal of fortune.

As Action News reported earlier this week, Tanya’s latest medical exams show that she has stopped growing for the time being.

To help her celebrate, she received a visit from her biggest fan, an Army paratrooper battling the same condition.

Captain Anne Barlieb and Tanya are both battling Acromegaly.

After Barlieb was diagnosed with the disorder, she began following Tanya's story online.  When the two eventually met in person, Barlieb gave all her Army honors and medals to her hero, Tanya.  So when she heard the positive results of Tanya's latest medical tests, Barlieb knew she had to take a trip to Las Vegas.

“To see her face, and put my arms around her and just say, you know, you did it,” said Barlieb. “For someone that's a hero in your life, to get good news finally, against the odds, I feel like it's the ultimate underdog story.”

Capt. Barlieb will have to leave Sunday to return to Fort Bragg where she is stationed.

Barlieb hoped her own Acromegaly treatments are successful so she won't have to see her career in the Army cut short.
