Chestnut wins World Rib-Eating title again in Nevada
SPARKS, Nev. (AP) -- The human eating machine who became famous for devouring scores of hotdogs is continuing his reign in the world of barbeque ribs.
For the sixth time in seven years, Joey Chestnut won the World Rib-Eating Championship at the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off in Sparks.
The 28-year-year San Jose, Calif., man nicknamed "Jaws" consumed 8 pounds of St. Louis-style ribs in 12 minutes on Wednesday. He set the world record of 9.8 pounds in 2008.
Chestnut's only loss came in 2009 when he placed second behind Pat Bertoletti of Chicago. Bertoletti was third on Wednesday with 5.8 pounds. Matt Stonie was second with 7.5 pounds.
Earlier this year, Chestnut won his sixth straight Fourth of July hot dog-eating contest at Coney Island with 68 dogs in 10 minutes.
