North Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- North Las Vegas police confirm they are investigating what led up to the death of 40-year-old Beverly McFarlane, but her family claims they already know what happened.

"He took my baby away, I don't have her anymore," said Beverly's mother, Bernice.

Her family said Beverly McFarlane passed away after she was brutally attacked.

"He took everything from her. Everything. And the last straw was her life," Beverly's sister, Prudence said. "She was beaten on a Wednesday and she didn't go to the hospital until Friday. By that time God knows what was going on in her brain."

North Las Vegas Police found her two days after her family said she was beaten. They were called to the home after reports of a domestic dispute, and had Beverly taken to a hospital to be treated for her injuries.

When they saw her in the hospital, her brain injuries were so severe that she couldn't recognize those who loved her the most.

Police say she died on August 25 at University Medical Center. The Clark County Coroner's Office has not determined her exact cause of death.

Beverly's family said they had no idea just how bad the violence was inside her home.

"She hid it from us all these years," her brother Lloyd said. " I am so upset because this is the first I've heard of the beatings."
