Henderson man sentenced to prison for firing machine gun
Henderson, NV (KTNV) -- A Henderson man accused of firing a machine gun in his backyard has been sentenced to prison.
38-year-old John Mackey pleaded guilty in May to one count of possession of a machine gun, according to the AG's office.
Police say Mackey fired the weapon in the backyard of his anthem home just after midnight on January 1, 2011.
Mackey told officers the machine gun was not registered.
He was sentenced Wednesday to one year and one day in prison by U.S. District Judge Kent J. Dawson.
