Judge sets Dec. 7 date in Wayne Newton museum case
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A Nevada judge is giving Wayne Newton until Dec. 7 to respond to a business partner's request to dissolve a partnership set up to create a museum and tourist attraction to honor the Las Vegas entertainer's life and career.
Clark County District Court Judge Elizabeth Gonzalez declined a request Tuesday from attorneys for the investment company headed by project manager Steven Kennedy to immediately end the relationship.
The Las Vegas Sun reports that attorney Charles McCrea Jr. cited "serious, ongoing, obvious irreconcilable differences."
Investors Lacy and Dorothy Harber and Kennedy bought Newton's sprawling compound for $19.5 million in June 2010, planning to offer the gold-trimmed Newton mansion for public tours.
Their lawyers say the developers have spent more than $50 million on the project to date.
