Green Valley students wear blue to honor William Mootz
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Students headed back to class at Green Valley High School on Monday with the pain of losing a classmate still fresh in their hearts.
William Mootz died after falling into a flood channel last Wednesday. His body was discovered in a wetland area near Sam Boyd Stadium on Friday morning.
Students wore blue to remember William Mootz on Monday. Many tied blue ribbons in their hair and decorated shirts in William's honor.
Willam was 17 years old and would have been a senior at Green Valley.
Over the weekend, a vigil was held at Green Valley High School. The Mootz family was given a diploma in William's name. The principal declared him the first graduate of the 2013 school year.
