Bus schedule confusion remains on eve of new school year
Clark County, NV (KTNV) -- It's a frustration that started earlier this week and is compounded as the clock ticks closer to the first day of school. While some parents finally have answers, others say they're still left clueless as to where and what time to drop off their kids.
It has turned out to be a confusing week for hundreds of parents who are trying to figure out their children's bus schedule and routes.
"It's a very busy time of year of course. Back to school is a time when parents are nervous and kids are getting ready for school for the first time, and everybody wants to know which bus stop is theirs," says Clark County School District spokesperson Amanda Fulkerson.
Hoping to help the families of more than 300 thousand students at the CCSD, 20 staff members have manned phone lines at the Department of Transportation answering questions seven days a week.
On our Facebook page so many parents voiced their frustrations.
Dy-Anne says " I never got a hold of them regarding my youngest schedule. We did get a paper for my high schooler in the mail but it's confusing cause it lists 4 different pick up times in the morning.
Sara says she is "...still trying to figure it out."
Some were able to get in. Jacqueline says she "finally got information on our son's bus route off of the website."
The district acknowledges issues with students of magnet or technical schools, but say they have worked around the clock to get that information up on the website.
"There's going to be a few glitches, but we are working diligently and we're going to get this figured out and make sure that we have information for our parents before the first day of school," says Fulkerson.
Penny and other parents say they finally got their information when "the bus garage called me today to tell me the bus number and pickup time."
You can dial the two phone numbers for information starting Monday morning.
