Teen disappears after fall into Pittman Wash
Henderson, NV (KTNV) -- A 17-year-old boy is missing after falling into the Pittman Wash in Henderson on Wednesday morning.
Officials say the boy fell into fast-moving wash near Sunset Road and Stephanie Street at about 11:40 a.m.
Action News spoke with a man who said he witnessed it happen.
"I noticed a man go right through, right in the middle of it," Mike Harms said. "I got in the car and rode down. I saw him one more time, he was waving his arms and yelling for help, but it was hopeless because he was going so fast, he was gone."
Henderson firefighters began their search after several 911 calls came in. A Metro helicopter was dispatched to help look for the teen.
Authorities say he was with friends when the fall happened.
"Our police and fire crews responded immediately," Bud Cranor, a Henderson spokesperson said. "They set up along that wash from Sunset to Stephanie down to Boulder Highway in an attempt to visually locate him. Unfortunately at this time all their efforts have been unsuccessful."
Henderson police stopped their search as the sun went down, and plan to resume their search first thing Thursday morning.
Police say they have been in touch with the teen's family.
