Teen identified, suspect charged after fatal crosswalk crash
LAS VEGAS, NV (KTNV) - The identity of a 19-year-old pedestrian, hit while in a crosswalk in Henderson on Saturday, has been released.
The Clark County Coroner’s office says Hannah Esther Quinn, 19, died from blunt force injuries after being hit by a car. Quinn died at the scene.
Police say the driver, Ricky J. Bonilla, 26, of Las Vegas was arrested for driving on a revoked license. His previous conviction which caused his license to be revoked was for driving while intoxicated and driving during a revocation period.
Bonilla was driving a 1995 Toyota Avalon southbound on Boulder Highway near Corn Street about 2:10 a.m. Saturday when he struck Quinn, crossing Boulder Highway in a marked crosswalk.
Speed does not appear to be a factor in the incident which remains under investigation.
So far this year there have been 10 fatal accidents resulting in 13 deaths in Henderson.
Nevada Department of Transportation says they're aware of ongoing problems on Boulder Highway.
"We've received quite a bit of calls on Boulder Highway and we address those as they come forth," says Damon Hodge the department's public information officer. Hodge adds that NDOT is constantly studying pedestrian safety along Boulder Highway.
Already this year, there have been at least 11 traffic fatalities on Boulder Highway. At least seven of those have been pedestrians.
