Residents dumbfounded over county commissioner's escaped bull
North Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) - A woman is recovering after being injured trying to corral a bull on the loose in North Las Vegas. Everything seems to be back to normal in that neighborhood, but people agree they have never seen anything like what happened Saturday.
One day after a bull escaped into a North Las Vegas neighborhood people are still talking about it.
Saturday afternoon police say a bull escaped into the neighborhood near Decatur and Craig in North Las Vegas. In trying to corral the bull, a 42-year-old woman was injured. She was taken to UMC with non-life threatening injuries. The bull had to be tranquilized before it was returned to a local ranch.
People who live in the area are shocked to hear about the impromptu rodeo on their streets.
"I can't believe it! It's something else! I've never heard of anything like that. Not over here anyway," says local resident Sherri Witty.
Others are upset.
"I mean it's dangerous. There's little kids running around or something. Somebody would have gotten injured," says David Lemus who lives nearby.
The bull belongs to Clark County Commissioner Tom Collins. With the bull back in his possession Commissioner Collins can do some light teasing along with everyone else.
"The first one, he's a little bit more adventurous, and he hadn't been in North Las Vegas in a while. He wanted to come see how bad things were," says Collins.
But while some think this is no laughing matter...
"You need to tell him to put it on a leash. That's not good for us," says resident Alexis B.
Others still can't believe it, and hope this escape never happens again.
"Freak accident probably, because I've been here 20 years, right around the corner, and I've never heard of that before," says Witty.
That woman who was injured had to get stitches under her chin, but we are told she is doing fine. Commissioner Collins was cited with a misdemeanor for life-stock at large.
