Balloons cause power outage for 15,000 customers
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Balloons caused a major power outage Saturday evening.
It happened around 5 p.m. in the area of Decatur Boulevard and Flamingo Road.
NV Energy told Action News a number of distribution lines were interrupted, because mylar balloons got caught in power lines.
The balloons caused a short in the lines.
Around 15,000 customers were impacted.
Power was restored to most customers by 6:15 p.m. and should be back up for the remaining customers shortly after.
NV Energy said this doesn't happen often, but mylar balloons can cause these issues every once in a while.
