North Las Vegas mother arrested in child's shooting
North Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Police have arrested a woman after her son shot himself in the head at a North Las Vegas home last week.
38-year-old Carmen Gustin is being charged with two counts of child negelct and a count of destroying evidence.
The shooting occurred on August 9th at the home located on the 3500 block of Creosote Way.
Investigators say that the boy was home alone with his 3-year-old brother when they found the handgun.
The evidence suggests that the 10-year old boy shot himself.
Gustin returned home at around 4:20 p.m., found her son injured and called 9-1-1.
Gustin had been booked into the City of Las Vegas Detention Center on unrelated misdemeanor warrants.
Gustin is due to be arraigned in court next week.
