Woman charged with May murder of boyfriend
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The woman who showed up at a local hospital's emergency room after strangling her boyfriend David Hudson in late May has been charged with murder.
36-year-old Tammy Lucero admitted to the police that she had strangled Hudson. She said that she choked him with a computer cord after he attacked and beat her.
Hudson had a prior record of domestic battery, burglary and drug charges. He had also been arrested Jan. 27 for punching Lucero in the face and threatening to kill her.
According to paperwork received from the District Attorney's office, the incident began on May 24 when Hudson became angry that Lucero was wearing a tank top.
Hudson allegedly struck Lucero in the face with a closed fist and began hitting, pushing and scratching Lucero.
The report also says that Hudson attempted to choke Lucero.
Lucero was able to grab a computer chord. When Hudson saw what she was doing, he allegedly told her to go ahead and that he was "down to die for her."
Lucero got behind Hudson and began to choke him.
She later told police "I don't know what happened. I just lost control."
Lucero left the couple's apartment after she choked Hudson. At that time, she believed that he was still alive and that we was going to kill her.
She waited for a little while in a nearby park with her niece before calling her mother.
Her mother came to the park and picked up Lucero and her niece and took her back to the couple's apartment to gather some belongings. When Lucero entered the apartment, she noticed that Hudson had not moved.
Lucero next went to her mother's residence. Her sister then took her to St. Rose Hospital's Rose de Lima campus where she told a nurse that she had just killed her boyfriend.
The police interview with Lucero revealed an extensive history of alleged abuse.
According to the report, Hudson had stabbed Lucero about two weeks ago across the top of her head. The cut required 13 staples to close.
Lucero also told police she was beaten on the average of three times a week.
Police interviews with neighbors seem to support that Lucero had been abused previously by Hudson.
Lucero is currently being held in the Henderson jail. Her first court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 22.
