Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Officers in Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's northwest area command were patrolling a well-marked intersection Thursday to send a message to motorists not paying attention.

Officers in bright-orange vests would activate the crosswalk lights and then step into the street at Durango and Westcliff.

Even with all the visual warnings, officers said many motorists still didn't stop.

Their goal is the raise awareness in the days remaining before school starts.
