CCSD teachers prepare for new school year
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- New supplies for brand new school teachers. Clark County School District teachers are preparing for the 2012-2013 school year.
"This is my first year actually in the classroom that's actually my own classroom," explains Scott Hill who attended a CCSD new teacher orientation.
For Scott it's the start of a new career. Instead of editing media production work, he'll start editing fifth grade essays.
"It's just nerve-wracking starting a new industry in general," says Scott. Not to mention after recent budget cuts to the school district.
It's not an easy switch considering this year's bumpy negotiations between the district and the teacher's union. But, Scott says he's not worried. Instead, he's excited to start teaching full time (he had been a substitute teacher for three years).
Scott's story is just one of many shared at today's workshop for incoming educators.
The school year begins on August 27.
