Local credit union helping non-profit through unique Smiles campaign

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A new fundraising campaign is putting a smile on the faces of those at Opportunity Village.
Thanks to the folks at WestStar Credit Union in Las Vegas, a smile will go a long way.
The "A Mile of Smiles" campaign aims to collect $1 per smile for a goal of $16,000.
The money will be donated to Opportunity Village, a non-profit organization that serves people with intellectual disabilities.
The campaign's website -- aMileofSmiles.org -- provides details of the campaign, information about Opportunity Village and instructions on submitting photos.
Individuals can take their own photos and submit them online, WestStar Brand Ambassadors will be out and about in the communities encouraging participation, and WestStar staff will be at various events with a booth set up to take on-the-spot photos.
“The Mile of Smiles concept came about from one member who shared his philosophy on the importance of smiling,” commented Rick Schmidt, President/CEO of WestStar Credit Union “he said a simple smile can make someone’s day, especially when we don’t know how many days we may have left.”
