Refinery fire helps boost Nevada gasoline prices
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Gasoline prices are up sharply in Nevada, in part because of a fire at an oil refinery in California.
AAA Nevada spokeswoman Cynthia Harris says the recent fire at a Chevron refinery in Richmond, Calif., has caused gas prices to spike across much of the Pacific Northwest and Nevada. Nevada gas prices are up an average of 14 cents over the last month, reaching $3.63 per gallon.
The statewide average was $3.52 a year ago at this time.
All but one Nevada metro area is seeing higher gas prices compared to a month ago, but prices remain below what people are paying elsewhere. The national average gas price is $3.70, up 32 cents in the past month.
