Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- CJ, the chimp, made it out of her enclosure once again Monday, this time just hours before animal handlers arrived to escort her to a chimp sanctuary in Oregon.

After her second escape on Saturday, CJ was moved to the home of local magician Dirk Arthur. A veterinarian was called out to Arthur’s home to give CJ a tuberculosis shot before she headed off to the sanctuary. While the vet was there CJ was able to get out of her enclosure.

Las Vegas police had to be called back to the home in order to prevent a third escape.

The chimp's caretaker, Timmi DeRosa, who received two citations for the two previous escapes was struck by the irony of CJ escaping from her latest enclosure just two days after the chimp was placed in the county’s custody.

“I think it's really, really horrible to say we're going to cite somebody, and oops get what happened,” DeRosa said.  “I think they look like idiots.”

DeRosa expects CJ to begin her journey up to Oregon Tuesday.

If convicted, DeRosa's two misdemeanor citations each carry a maximum $1,000 fine and six months in jail.

She's set to be arraigned Oct. 25.

DeRosa plans on fighting those charges.
