Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Military families recently received a huge helping hand, thanks to an organization providing them with free school supplies.

Saturday’s back-to-school brigade at the Clark County Armory was a huge help for the Sawyer family who have only recently moved to Southern Nevada.

“Just the time with trying to find all the different things, it saves a lot of time, it definitely saves a lot of money as well,” said Sgt. Dana Sawyer, an airman stationed at Nellis.

Operation Homefront Nevada has worked for the last month collecting donations at various community businesses in order to provide brand new school supplies for the children of our servicemen and women.

But, the organization said they didn't have enough supplies. So they turned to Action News and the Morning Blend for help, asking the public for donations.

“After the show, we got a corporate sponsor who said ‘Hey, I want to contribute to that this,” said Operation Homefront Nevada’s Interim President Annie Baca.  “It's a big deal.  We can’t do it without the community.”
