Clark County School District rehiring 419 teachers
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Clark County School District is planning on rehiring 419 teachers who were laid off after a union battle.
The teachers are able to be rehired because other teachers are retiring or resigning.
The move to rehire the teachers by the school district was confirmed by a district spokesperson on Friday.
More than 1,000 teaching positions were eliminated in June. CCSD said that the lay offs were necessary after an arbitrator's decision that required the school district to spend more than $60 million on teacher salaries.
