Hoover Dam shut down after security incident
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Hoover Dam was shut down Tuesday afternoon after a security incident.
Authorities say it started when the driver of a pickup truck ran through a security checkpoint at about 4 p.m.
Hoover Dam Police, National Park Service and Las Vegas police were called to the scene. A SWAT unit drove one of their vehicles in and pinned the man in.
The man got out and surrendered to police.
It was unclear what prompted the driver to enter the area, and authorities did not know if he was armed or dangerous.
The road to the dam was shut down as authorities work to ensure the security of the dam and the safety of the public.
