Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Police have cited and released the name of the woman who survived after her car careened 40 feet into a drainage ditch near downtown Las Vegas on Monday.

Elizabeth Campbell claims her brakes failed, causing her to lose control of her BMW and fly into the ditch near Interstate 15 and Symphony Park Avenue.

Campbell called 911 and directed authorities to where she was by describing the billboard above her.

When crews arrived on scene, they found her car 40 feet below street level in a drainage ditch.

Rescuers were able to reach the woman and a crane pulled her car from the ditch.

They say she suffered only minor injuries but couldn't describe how exactly she wound up in the ditch.

She was taken to a nearby hospital to be checked out.

Campbell was later cited for driving with a suspended license.
