Fire at vacant home causes thousands in damage
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A fire Sunday morning at a vacant home near 10th Street and Bridger Avenue has fire officials reminding the public to keep an eye out for squatters.
"A lot of these incidents could be avoided if people reported to police that there's activity going on at a vacant property," said Tim Szymanski, spokesperson for the Las Vegas Fire Department.
Fire officials believe the fire was started accidentally by a homeless person living behind the empty home. Damage is estimated at $10,000. The house next door also sustained minor injuries. Firefighters were able to put out the flames in just minutes. No one was injured.
