Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has issued an apology to casino mogul Sheldon Adelson after saying that he was linked to prostitution to his resort in Macau.

The DCCC issued a statement that said previous statements about Adelson were "untrue and unfair and we retract them."

The DCCC also said that it "extends its sincere apology to Mr. Adelson and his family for any injury we have caused."

The campaign committee removed two blogs from its website that contained the allegations. The blogs were based on allegations made by former Sands China Ltd. executive Steven Jacobs.

Attorneys for Sheldon sent the DCCC a letter last month threatening a libel lawsuit unless an apology was issued.
