911 calls reporting escaped chimpanzees released
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas police have released tapes of calls to 911 received from residents when two chimpanzees escaped in a Las Vegas neighborhood last month.
Callers can be heard describing the wild animals running through backyards and neighborhood streets.
"There are a couple of chimpanzees running around on Jones and Ann," one caller tells a dispatcher.
"I don't want anybody getting hurt," a woman tells 911. "There's two...they're chimpanzees...they're outside."
"They are wild animals," another caller says. "They are dangerous."
The incident happened the morning of July 12, when two chimpanzees escaped their enclosure outside a northwest Valley home.
One of the chimpanzees was fatally shot by police.
The other chimpanzee was tranquilized and returned to its enclosure.
