Rain brings flooding through parts of Las Vegas
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Heavy morning rain brought flooding through some parts of Las Vegas on Tuesday morning.
The northwest part of the Valley saw the worst of the morning storm.
The Action News Hawk found the intersection of Buffalo and Grand Teton flooded and rocks all over the roadway, making it a tough morning commute for many.
Along Grand Teton, every dip in the road became a miniature lake when the rain began falling at about 5 a.m. As the rain accumulated, those roadway lakes turned into rushing rivers with water washing landscape rocks and debris into storm drains, clogging them.
Many motorists did exactly what authorities advise not to do: driving along roads without knowing how deep the water was.
Some drivers stalled out or caused damage to their vehicles by driving over debris under the water.
By 7 a.m., City of Las Vegas cleanup crews were already out looking for trouble spots, including strewn landscaping and construction damage.
The area of Elkhorn and Fort Apache also saw morning flooding.
By midday, heavy rains had subsided. The area could see a second round of severe weather later on in the day.
