Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A flash flood watch has been issued for portions of northwest Arizona, California and Southern Nevada, including the Las Vegas Valley.

The watch will be in effect from 8 a.m. PST until this evening.

A very moist and unstable air mass combined with an area of low pressure over the area will create the potential for thunderstorms that may produce heavy rain.

The watch covers the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, the Las Vegas Valley, northeast Clark County, and southern Clark County.

Travelers should be on the lookout for water in low-lying areas including roads and intersections. Also be on the lookout for dirt and gravel and other debris that may wash into the roadways

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding.

A watch means to watch out for what the weather could do and be ready to act. A warning means that dangerous weather is threatening the area.
