Summerlin HOV flyover opens today
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Carpoolers are getting the green light today to start using the new Summerlin high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) flyover.
Beginning July 30, cars and trucks with more than two passengers will be allowed to use the HOV lane, which connects Summerlin parkway to U.S. 95.
The $27 million project began last May and has taken just over a year to complete -- approximately 90,000 man hours.
Motorists should be aware though that if they are caught alone in HOV lanes, they could receive a fine of $250. That is for the first offense. Larger fines will be given to repeat offenders.
